Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations Monday, June 16th 2008
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19).
We wish you all a blessed Fast of the Apostles. We ask that the Lord strengthen the church as he did at the time of the apostles. We also pray for the health of H.H. Pope Shenouda III. May the Lord strengthen him that he may continue to shepherd his flock in peace for years to come.

Happy Coptic New Year - Year of the Martyrs Wednesday, September 12th 2007
"Because those who see us die, wonder why we do, for we die like the men you revere, not like slaves or criminals. And when they find out, they join us." (Tertullian, 2nd Century Apologetic).
Happy Coptic New Year to you. On this first day of the Coptic New Year, the Year of the Martyrs, 1724, the church commemorates the faithfulness of these men, woman and children martyrs, whose blood indeed became the "seed of the Church" (Apologeticum, 1, Tertullian).

Ordination of Fr. Daniel Abdelmaseih by H.H. Pope Shenouda Saturday, September 1st 2007
In a church full of joy and chanting, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, the Pope and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and the head of the Coptic Church, ordained Fr. Daniel Abdelmaseih as a priest for St. Mark's of Jersey City, the oldest Coptic Church in the United States. His Holiness was accompanied by H.G. Pisenti, Bishop of Helwan, H.G. Bishop Boutros, H.G. Bishop Macarius, H.G. Bishop Youannes, Secretary of His Holiness, H.G. David, General Bishop of North America, and H.G. Youssef, Bishop of Bolivia. Over three hundred of the church's congregation attended this momentous occasion listening joyously to His Holiness Pope Shenouda as he instructed the new priest for the care of the congregation and made everyone laugh with his unique sense of humor. Fr. Daniel Abdelmaseih is the third priest at St. Mark's and will be serving with Hegumen Fr. Abraam Sleman and Rev. Fr. Markos Ayoub. The newly ordained Fr. Daniel will spend his first forty days in the Monastery of St. Pishoy in Wadi ElNatroun Egypt, where he will receive the rites of the Divine Liturgy and the Holy Sacraments and prepare himself for service. May the God of heavens keep for us the life of H.H. Pope Shenouda III for many years and peaceful times.

Fast of St. Mary (August 7-22) Saturday, August 11th 2007
The Coptic Church venerates St. Mary as the "Theotokos,", the Mother of God, whom the Divine Grace chose to bear the Word of God in her womb by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). Since she is considered to be the exemplary member in the church, and the interceding mother on behalf of her spiritual children, she is exalted above heavenly and earthly creatures. Therefore, the church does not cease glorifying (blessing) her, and celebrating her feasts in order that we imitate her and ask her intercessions on our behalf.
